A refreshing, sweet oatmeal drink popular in Colombia, Avena is perfect for breakfast or a snack. Each sip is filled with the wholesome goodness of oats, flavored with spices that make it both comforting and rejuvenating.
In a blender, add the rolled oats and water. Blend until the oats are finely ground, about 30 seconds.
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher, discarding the solids.
Pour the oat milk back into the blender, and add the milk (or dairy-free alternative), panela, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Blend again until smooth and well combined.
Taste and adjust sweetness or add more cinnamon if needed.
Serve over ice in tall glasses, garnished with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, banana slices, or nuts if desired.
