Ingredients
  • 2 cups glutinous rice flour (mochi flour)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup matcha powder
  • 1/2 cup black sesame paste
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (for topping)
Instructions
  1. 1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. 2In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, sugar, and baking powder. Mix well.
  3. 3In another bowl, whisk together coconut milk, black sesame paste, and water until smooth.
  4. 4Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until fully combined.
  5. 5Divide the batter in half. To one half, add matcha powder and mix until well incorporated.
  6. 6Pour the matcha batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  7. 7Gently spoon the black sesame batter on top of the matcha layer, trying not to mix the two.
  8. 8Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top of the batter.
  9. 9Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. 10Allow to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
